Sonja Schachinger studied Media Art Histories at the Department for Image Science at Danube University Krems. She has many years of international exhibition experience and has already worked together with Atelier Victoria Coeln, the BIO-FICTION Festival, Studio Sonja Bäumel and the #TullnART exhibition. Her focus is on the field of digital and new media art & education. In this field, she has already worked for the Kunstmeile Krems, the Mauthausen Committee Austria and the spell GmbH.
She is curator of the Art & Science project âfermenting futures by Anna Dumitriu & Alex Mayâ, a cooperation of the University of Applied Arts Vienna and BOKU Vienna. In the NIPAS - Nomadic Institute of political Art & Science team, she was responsible for dissemination. As a new format for Pro Helvetia, she has mediated the SciArt Program for the cooperation NanoARTS with the Adolphe Merkel Institute.
Within the European Culture Capital â Timisoara 2023 program she was the collaborative curator of the STEAM education exhibition âBioART Revolutionâ and the symposium âNanoART Revolutionâ. She became the SciArt-program facilitator of the acib GmbH in 2024. As part of her consultancy work for acib, she developed, implemented, and managed the Art & Science project "A Metabolic Guide to Space Survival by Kristina Pulejkovaâ which was shown at the Venice Biennale 2025 at the Universe Pavilion.
